Most owners don't think about slow season until they're already in it. Here's how to use the momentum you have right now to make sure it doesn't sneak up on you.
1. Sell maintenance plans while you're already there.
You're in front of more customers right now than any other time of year. That's the easiest opening you'll ever get to talk about recurring services and scheduled follow-up work. Don't leave those conversations for later. (Later, you'll be chasing them and it'll feel salesy VS helpful.)
2. Start booking cool-weather projects now.
Customers are in a yes mindset when work is actively happening. Lock in future projects while you have their attention and trust. A half-full schedule going into slow season is a completely different feeling than an empty one. (Don't forget to take a deposit!)
3. Prep to use the slow season to fix what busy season exposed.
Every pain point you're feeling right now (missed details, the inconsistent estimates, the team confusion)... write it down. Slow season is when you fix it so next year runs better. That means better systems, cleaner processes, and a back office that can keep up.
Truth is right now is NOT the time to bring us in and overhaul your back-office. But it is a great time to do your Business Audit so you can take action as soon as things slow down.
